Isfahan University of Medical Sciences is located on a 400-hectare campus adjacent to the University of Isfahan in the southwestern corner of the City of Isfahan. It lies on the heights of Mount Soffeh foothills. Hence, the University enjoys a panoramic view of the city. Faculty buildings with an overall area of about 102,000 square meters are located among the spectacularly landscaped green areas of the university campus, some of which with historical and architectural value.
More than 30% of the University buildings are used for educational purposes, and the rest is in use by the administrative, recreational and general services sectors. Hezar-Jerib highway runs alongside the eastern border of the University campus and is the southern gateway to the city. IUMS is served by public transportation with good bus services to various part of the city and the planned Metro line runs by the university with two Metro stations serving the campus.
The southern part of the University includes Kooy-e-Daneshgah, a residential area for the University staff and dormitory buildings. One of the most important features of IUMS is the integration of all faculty and administrative buildings in the same area.
Al-Zahra Teaching Hospital, one of the most prominent and well-equipped hospitals in the Middle East, stands southwest of the University campus.
The residential complex of IUMS is located in the southeastern corner of the campus. The complex includes student dormitories, as well as apartments for academic and administrative staff. The University has ten dormitories (5 boys and 5 girls dormitories).
Most dormitory buildings enjoy facilities such as supermarket, restaurant, gymnasium, playground and cycling areas. Each room is supplied with a phone line and internet access. Library, study and computer rooms in each dormitory building facilitate study and research activities. Male international students are allocated a specific dormitory. Female international students live in the same buildings as female Iranian students.
All dormitory buildings are supplied with a free transportation system. A fleet of buses transport students to and from dormitories to all faculty buildings on the campus. A clinic provides students with emergency, ambulance and general dentistry services free of charge 24h a day. Congregational prayers are held at dormitory mosques on a regular basis. Counselors based at the dormitories provide students with advice in various areas such as education, marriage, cultural activities, etc.
